Excellent chemistry between Owen and Roberts, combined with an interesting story, careful use of flashbacks, and some excellent supporting performances (Paul Giamatti is awesome) made this an enjoyable film (if maybe a little long) despite the critical backlash.
Archive for the “love story” CategoryA sweet and very funny emotionally engaging right of passage movie. Twilight is targetted directly at a specific demographic, but even if you fall outside that it’s an inoffensive film with some better than expected acting and some shockingly bad ‘special effects’ delivering an unmemorable but peaceful viewing experience.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate PeoplePosted by tony in 2008, comedy, dvd, love story, reviewAn above average comedy with some engaging characters and just enough solid laughs to keep you going and Pegg holding the movie together. Zack and Miri is a touching and funny comedy with some true laugh out loud moments and a strong splattering of Kevin Smith’s trademark dialog. Exceptional movie making and superb story telling make Wall-E a totally unique and memorable experience that is moving and funny and full of heart. A good quality romantic comedy which avoids the pitfalls of lower quality fair, provides some decent laughs, some touching moments and plenty of full frontal male nudity. Kevin Smith delivers a hilarious homage to the John Hughes / John Landis late 70′s and early 80′s era of film making and adds his own generous touch of quality. An intelligent and emotional love story which delivers an incisive and revealing look at relationships, gender choice and our sexual history without pandering to the usual stereotypes or insulting the viewer. |
